The Civil Air Patrol is America's official Air Force Auxilary, building the nation's finest force of citizen volunteers performing missions for the community, the Island of Maui, the State of Hawaii and the nation. Through the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program, young adults, ages 12 to 18, develop leadership skills, solidify their character and participate in exciting hands-on activities that prepare them to become responsible citizens.

After meeting specific program requirements, cadets are eligible to participate in orientation flights in the squadron's Cessna aircrart, based at Kahului Airport. Our senior member orientation pilots are FAA and CAP certified and provide the cadets with an exciting, safe and enriching flight experience.

In addition to flight time, the cadet program provides high quality personal development and aerospace education activities including:

  • Aerospace and aviation classes including model rocketry
  • Communications and radio operation with hands-on exercises
  • Emergency services and emergency response training and exercises
  • Hiking and camping
  • High quality flight simulator sessions
  • Public affairs outreach

Our senior leaders are educators, commercial pilots and flight instructors, retired Air Force and military and other adults with a passion for helping shape the future of our young adults.

As a young adult, if you're dreaming of a career in aviation, space or the military, or you're drawn to aviation-related science and technology - CAP's cadet program is for you. Whether you're focused on aviation or the military or focused on any other academic degree program, your participation in the Civil Air Patrol can make you eligible to apply for a number of scholarships made available each year to CAP cadets who are continuing their education.
